Roberto’s primary field of research is Ancient Philosophy, especially in the 4th and 3rd centuries BCE (Plato, Old Academy, Aristotle, Early Hellenistic Philosophy), with a specific focus on metaphysical and ontological themes. In particular, he is interested in the doctrine of categories and its history throughout the Ancient tradition.

This also led him to pursue the in-depth study of the commentary tradition from the 1st century BCE up to Late Neoplatonism. Roberto also has side interests in Medieval and Early Modern Philosophy, as well as in Greek and Roman literary culture.
