Thinking towards Action: 2019 Underrepresented Philosophy Conference

Friday March 1, 2019, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Philosophy Course Union presents Thinking towards Action: 2019 Underrepresented Philosophy Conference. This year’s conference bridges disciplines to create an invested dialogue on the state of knowledge in higher learning and ethics in morally precarious times. We encourage students and faculty from all disciplines to attend and engage with our speakers.

The event is free and open to all. Please register.

Keynote:”Microaggression and Forward-Looking Moral Responsibility”

Dr. Regina Rini, Canada Research Chair in Philosophy of Moral and Social Cognition and Assistant Professor at York University

Panel: Diverse Knowledge in the Academy

What does (and doesn’t) get called “academic” knowledge? And why should we care? Dr. Shannon Dea (Waterloo), Dr. Ahmed Ilmi (U of T), and Charles Dalrymple-Fraser (U of T) discuss underrepresented ways of knowing and what the “academic” label means. Moderated by Howard Williams (U of T).

See the Facebook event for all speaker details.
