Evan Thompson has taught at Boston University (1994-96) and York University (1996-2005), where from 2002-05 he held a Canada Research Chair in Cognitive Science and the Embodied Mind. His most recent book is Mind in Life: Biology, Phenomenology, and the Sciences of Mind (Harvard University Press, 2007). He is also the author of Colour Vision: A Study in Cognitive Science and the Philosophy of Perception (Routledge Press, 1995) and co-author of The Embodied Mind: Cognitive Science and Human Experience (MIT Press, 1991). His research interests are philosophy of mind, phenomenology, and cognitive science (especially the cognitive neuroscience of consciousness). He joined the U. of T. as Professor of Philosophy in 2005.
