James Robert Brown
BA, MA (Guelph), PhD (Western Ontario)

Professor

My interets lie in the philosophy of science.  Books, which reflect some of these interests, include: The Rational and the Social (1989), on the sociology of science; The Laboratory of the Mind (l991), on thought experiments; Smoke and Mirrors (1994), on realism and other topics in the philosophy of science; and Philosophy of Mathematics, (1999), Who Rules in Science?, (2001), on politics and epistemology in the so-called science wars.   Books on naturalism in math, and methodology in science are underway.
