When a student has satisfied the Qualifying Requirement and submitted the Thesis Committee Form (see the Forms section of this website), the student has then met all program requirements except for the dissertation and is classified as holding ABD Status (“all but dissertation” status).
The School of Graduate Studies requires each student to have met all program requirements except for the dissertation by August 31 of the year following the Qualifying Year.
⚠ Note: The SGS deadline is a year later than the departmental deadline. The department can waive its own deadlines in particular cases, but cannot waive SGS’s deadlines.
