Arthur Ripstein elected to Royal Society of Canada
The Philosophy Department is very pleased to announce that our colleague, Arthur Ripstein, has been elected to the Royal Society of Canada for his important contributions to legal and political philosophy. He is the only philosopher who has been awarded this honour this year.
Arthur Ripstein is an international leader in the fields of legal and political philosophy. He is the world’s most significant interpreter of Immanuel Kant’s political philosophy. He is the author of Equality, Responsibility and the Law (1999) and Force and Freedom: Kant’s Legal and Political Philosophy (2009), as well as numerous articles and book chapters.
The Induction and Awards Ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 27 at the Annual Meeting of the Royal Society of Canada being held in Ottawa. Congratulations Arthur!
