Biography:
Cory Lewis’s research in the Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology explores the idea of medium-strength modality, which characterizes the great majority of scientific knowledge which is neither completely general, nor completely particular. His work employs a measure-theoretic account of generality to explore the ideas of evolutionary contingency, the function of mathematical models, and emergence.
