Roberto’s primary field of research is Ancient Philosophy. More in detail, his research focuses primarily on Plato (especially the later dialogues), the Old Academy and the Platonic tradition, with a specific interest for metaphysical themes. He also maintains a lively interest in the doctrine of categories and its history throughout the Antiquity, particularly Aristotle and the ancient commentators on Aristotle.
Before coming to Toronto, he was a member of the honours program of the Sapienza School for Advanced Studies (SSAS). In May-June 2017 he has spent a research period at the Centre Jean Pépin-CNRS in Paris.
