Biography:
A philosopher, writer, columnist, and musician, Taras Lyutyi, born in Romny in the Sumy region in Ukraine, is currently a visiting professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto. He studies the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche, and his areas of interest include philosophical anthropology and philosophy of culture. He writes short essays on cultural studies for the Ukrainian Week and plays in a band, The Four from Polonez.
He graduated from the Kyiv Polytechnic and the Kyiv Mohyla Academy with a doctor of philosophy. He is professor at the NaUKMA Faculty of Philosophy and Religious Studies and a senior fellow at the Department of Philosophical Anthropology of the Hryhoriy Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy.
Taras managed an International Renaissance Foundation program “Social Capital and Academic Publications” (2008-2011). He is a curator and lecturer of The Cultural Project, a lecturer at the Ukrainian Leadership Academy, and curator of the Philosophy Translation Program of the classics of intellectual thought (jointly with Mizhvukhamy [Betweentheears] Foundation and Tempora Publishing House).
