
For their essays, four graduate students from the department received Congress Graduate Merit Award (CGMA) Prizes at the 2024 Canadian Philosophical Association Conference:
- Joshua Brecka for “Social Knowledge and Rational Group Action”;
- Bowen Chan for “Tough Love, White Lies, Hard Truths, and Mixed Motives”;
- Julia Minarik for “The Imaginative Character of Text-to-Image Generators”; and
- Schuyler Pringle for “In Defence of the Best Interest Standard: A Fiduciary Duty
Pringle’s article garnered the particular honour of being published in a special edition of Dialogue: Canadian Philosophical Review. In this work, he looks at Canadian provincial pediatric health-care policies and laws to assert that a substitute decision-maker must satisfy the best interest standard.
