On November 14, colleagues and former students came together to celebrate a man whose research on and teaching of ancient Greek philosophy has shaped the field for decades: Lloyd P. Gerson. After more than fifty years in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto and a prolific writing career, he began his well-deserved retirement this year–but not before we could see him off in style and rigorous scholarly debate one final time. To honour his groundbreaking work and academic legacy, the Franciscan University Press has now published Platonic Principles: Essays in Honor of Lloyd Gerson, edited by Carl Séan O’Brien (Irish Dominican House of Studies, Dublin) and Sarah Klitenic Wear (Franciscan University, Steubenville). Read more about the volume and the book launch on the blog of the Catholic University of America Press (CUA). Congratulations and thank you again to Gerson for his contributions to Greek philosophy and classical scholarship.
