Alex Koo joins the St. George and UTM Departments as Assistant Professor (Teaching-Stream).  A renowned teacher of logic, Prof. Koo has already developed new pedagogical strategies for several large courses offered on both campuses. In particular, he has revamped PHL245H: Modern Symbolic Logic to be a hybrid and flipped course, started the Logic Lab, and introduced technologies such as PeerScholar, Crowdmark, and Mentimeter. He completed his PhD at the Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology at the University of Toronto in 2015, writing his dissertation on indispensability arguments for mathematical realism. Prof. Koo has since expanded his area of research to explore the application of mathematics in science, scientific inference, and scientific realism.
