Alex Koo joins the St. George at UTM Departments as Assistant Professor (Teaching-Stream). A renowned teacher of logic, Alex has also focused on developing new pedagogical strategies for some of the larger courses at the Department. He has revamped PHL245H: Modern Symbolic Logic to be a hybrid and flipped course, started the Logic Lab, and has implemented teaching technologies such as PeerScholar, Crowdmark, Mentimeter, and more into his courses. He completed his PhD at the Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology at the University of Toronto in 2015 where he focused on indispensability arguments for mathematical realism. Alex has since expanded his area of research into broader issues regarding the application of mathematics in science, scientific inference, and scientific realism.
