It is our great pleasure to announce that Damian Melamedoff-Vosters and Daniel Munro have been selected as the co-winners of the 2022 David Savan Dissertation Prize, which is awarded in recognition “of the excellence of a doctoral thesis in philosophy submitted and successfully defended by a student in the Graduate Department.”

The prize citation mentions “originality, rigour, and good writing” as the relevant criteria for the award, and the selection committee found all these virtues significantly represented both in the thesis written by Melamedoff-Vosters, titled “The Grounds of Transcendental Idealism” and supervised by Nick Stang, and in Munro’s dissertation, titled “Imagining the Actual” and supervised by Jennifer Nagel. The award carries a cash prize of $1,000.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Damian and Daniel, especially since the committee noted that the work of this year’s nominees proved particularly strong. Our graduate students never fail to make us proud.
