Benjamin Wald joins UTSC as an assistant professor in the teaching stream, jointly appointed in Philosophy and Computer and Mathematical Sciences. In addition to teaching in both departments, he will play a lead role in UTSC’s expanding Embedded Ethics Education Initiative (E3I). Benjamin received his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Toronto and subsequently held a postdoctoral fellowship in AI ethics at the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society, where he helped develop and launch the St. George campus’s E3I program. He later worked as a senior policy analyst with the Ontario Ministry of Health and as a research analyst with the Chiefs of Ontario, where his work focused on First Nations data sovereignty and artificial intelligence.
