Biography:

  • BA (Combined Honors), Philosophy and Religious Studies (minor in German), University of Alberta

Camilo is a PhD student interested in Indigenous philosophy (particularly Zapotec and Mesoamerican Ontology and    Ethics), philosophical methodology, and 19th Century German philosophy (especially Hegel and Schelling). One of his central research aims is to develop methods for fostering cross-cultural dialogue between Indigenous and Western philosophical traditions that attend to the situated and relational orientation of Indigenous philosophies. He is also interested in 20th Century French philosophy, especially the work of Gilles Deleuze, and Latin American philosophy.

Prior to joining the Department, Camilo completed his BA in Philosophy and Religious Studies at the University of Alberta. Outside of academia, Camilo enjoys exploring the outdoors with friends and travelling. He also has a passion for listening to music, attending concerts, sports, and playing video games.
