Biography:

  • BA (Hons), McGill University (Philosophy)

James is an MA student in the Department of Philosophy. His main research interests are in the philosophy of language, usually when it involves applying insights from pragmatics to problems in epistemology and metaethics. Some of the specific topics he’s researched include knowledge attributions, polysemy, and the semantics/pragmatics of normative language. He is especially interested in expressivism, as well as theories of meaning more generally.

Outside of philosophy, James enjoys finding new music, canoeing/camping, and being indecisive in bookstores.
