Matthew’s research focuses on Hegel and German idealism, social and political philosophy, and critical social theory.

Systematically, he is interested in institutional theory, theories of recognition, and critical theories of race, gender, labor, and technology. Historically, his work centers on the social philosophy of Hobbes, Fichte, Hegel, and Marx.

His dissertation is entitled “Hegel’s Logic of Institutions.”
