Underrepresented Philosophy Conference 2020

Friday February 28, 2020, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Join the Philosophy Course Union for its 2020 Underrepresented Philosophy Conference. This annual conference aims to spotlight and lend esteem to philosophy and philosophers underrepresented (or otherwise maligned) within the discipline and in the academy at large. Undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and the nonacademic community are all invited to attend.

The event is free and open to all. It will take place in the Jackman Humanities Building, which is accessible and has both gendered and nongendered bathrooms. Please email Yaz Martens if you have needs, questions, or concerns.

Speakers

  • Jovy Chan (University of Toronto), “When Illocutionary Silencing Threatens Free Speech”
  • Dr. Alice MacLachlan (York University), “Fork This: A Skeptic’s Guide to Civility”
  • Dr. Jennifer Saul (University of Waterloo), “Responding to Implicit Bias in Philosophy: What to Do and What Not to Do” (keynote)

See the Facebook event for all speaker details.
