History of Modern Philosophy Group Talk (Samuel Fleischaker, Illinois)

One of five departmental Research Interest Groups, the History of Philosophy Group is home to the History of Modern Philosophy Research Group, which focuses on the period, roughly, from Descartes to Kant.

The History of Modern Philosophy Group is pleased to welcome guest speaker Samuel Fleischaker, professor in the University of Illinois, Chicago’s Department of Philosophy. Prof. Fleischaker’s research is primarily in moral and political philosophy, the history of philosophy, the philosophy of religion, and aesthetics. Some of the issues of particular interest to him are: the nature and history of liberalism, moral status of culture, and the relationship between moral and other values (aesthetic values, political values, religious values).
