Congratulations to Margaret Morrison on being elected as a new Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. The Royal Society was established in 1882 and functions as Canada’s National Academy. The primary objective of the Society is to promote learning and research in the arts, the humanities and the natural and social sciences.
Here’s an extract from the Society’s citation: “Margaret Morrison is an internationally recognized scholar in the philosophy of science. Her papers and books on various aspects of modelling in the physical and biological sciences have been responsible for transforming the way scholars analyse issues related to model construction and evaluation. Her work on theory unification in physics has had a similar impact, calling attention to the role unified theories play in shaping our understanding of the physical world.”
