Event Navigation
Professor Sophia Moreau will be running a Symposium on Discrimination and Subordination on November 15-16, 2019.
The Symposium will be held at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and Centre for Ethics.
It will bring together philosophers from North America, the U.K., Denmark and Australia who write about discrimination, subordination, and requirements of equal respect, as well as legal scholars writing on legal issues related to discrimination, in particular, the potentially discriminatory impact of algorithms.
The Symposium will include an “Author Meets Critics” session at the Centre for Ethics on Friday November 15, to discuss Sophia Moreau’s forthcoming book, Faces of Inequality: A Theory of Wrongful Discrimination. It will also include papers presented by Benjamin Eidelson, Deborah Hellman, Niko Kolodny, Kasper Lippert-Rasmussen, Gina Schouten, and Daniel Viehoff, and a Graduate Student Panel at which Ph.D. students from N.Y.U., Cornell, and the University of Toronto present their work in progress.
Schedule, List of Participants and Information on Accommodation can be found on the Symposium’s website.
