UTM PAS Debate: “Should the Elite Run Society?”

Wednesday March 4, 2020, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

“Who should run society? Should the society be run by ‘the elites’, or those who wield power without adhering to the general will of the people? Or should society be run as the majority of people want it to be run, in a more ‘populist’ spirit? Should decision-making be restricted to Ivy-League educated academic elites who ‘know what they’re doing’ or must we also let the average blue-collar worker have a say?

To debate these and related questions, the Philosophy Academic Society is hosting a public debate on ‘Should the Elite Run Society?’ It will feature two prolific debaters in Prof. Andrew Sepielli and Mr. Hamish Russell, and is bound to educate and entertain. This event will be held on Wednesday, March 4, from 6pm to 8pm in IB 120.
