Congratulations to Brian Embry on winning this year’s David Savan Dissertation Prize.
In a field of very strong candidates, Brian’s thesis, Truth and Truth-making in 17th-Century Scholasticism, (abstract available here) stood out as best exemplifying the virtues of “originality, rigour and good writing,” the criteria of the prize. The Savan Prize is now awarded annually, and bears a value of $1000.
Warm thanks to the members of this year’s Savan Prize Committee, Bernard Katz, Cheryl Misak, and Andrew Franklin-Hall for their work in reviewing the nominations.
