UTM Philosophy announces 2016-17 award winners

The UTM Department of Philosophy is pleased to announce its 2016-17 award winners.

Top-of-the-Class Prizes

These prizes are awarded to the two students with the highest final grades in the two sections of PHL105.

This year’s recipients are Emma Koenig and Abraham George Mathew.

Excellence 200 Prize

This prize is awarded for outstanding performance in a second year Philosophy course.

This year’s recipient is Cindy Do.

Excellence 300 Prize

This prize is awarded for outstanding performance in a third year Philosophy course.

This year’s recipients are  Cindy Do and Rahul Saily.

The Gombay Prize

This prize is awarded to a graduating major or specialist for academic achievement in philosophy and contribution to the intellectual life of the UTM Philosophy Department.

This prize is awarded in honour and memory of Prof. Andre Gombay’s long connection and great contribution to Philosophy at UTM. The 2016-17 winner is Mary Loka.

The Erindale Prize

This prize is awarded to a graduating major or specialist for exceptional academic achievement. The 2016-17 winner is Victoria Stelmacovich.

The Jacqueline Brunning Award

This prize is awarded to a UTM student in their final year of study for outstanding performance as a philosophy specialist or major. This award is made possible by the Jacqueline Brunning Award Fund in commemoration of the profound impact of Prof. Brunning’s 36-year career of teaching and scholarship at UTM. The 2016-17 (and inaugural!) winner is Theo Lindgreen.
