Enrollment trends in North American have shown a marked decline in the humanities (with a parallel increase in the social sciences, law and business, commerce, management, and math and computer science). This development has not manifested at the Department of Philosophy at U of T. In a recent post on his personal Substack “In Due Course,” titled “Decline, What Decline?”, Joseph Heath has taken a look at some of the numbers and their possible explanations.
