The Department of Philosophy congratulates its three most recent PhDs: In September, John R. Miller successfully defended his dissertation titled “Wahkootowin Ethics: A Métis Approach to the Ethics of Kinship,” supervised by Andrew Franklin-Hall. Miller currently holds the position of lecturer at the University of Victoria. David Rattray and Kristen Beard also recently defended their respective theses: Rattray’s, “Getting Purposes in Mind,” took shape under the supervision of Denis Walsh, while Beard wrote her “How to Say Things without Words: Social Dynamics and Inferential Communication” under the guidance of Cheryl Misak and Nate Charlow. Both Rattray and Beard continue their tenure with the University of Toronto Department of Philosophy, Rattray as a postdoctoral fellow on the St. George campus, Beard as a part-time assistant professor at UTSC.

Congratulations to all three!
