We are delighted to announce five faculty promotions to the rank of professor in the department, all of which will take effect on July 1, 2026.
Gwen Bradford (St George) studies value theory and normative ethics, and is particularly interested in ill-being—the opposite of well-being—and how perfectionism might account for it. She is also Associate Chair, Graduate (Director of Graduate Studies) and the Chancellor Jackman Professor of Philosophy.
Nate Charlow’s (UTM) research focuses on philosophical issues in the semantics of natural language, often extending into meta-ethics and epistemology.
Phil Clark (UTM) has written on practical reason, meta-ethics, philosophy of action and testimony. His current work is on the problem of creeping minimalism and the relation between expressivism and subjectivism.
Nilanjan Das (UTM) works on epistemology and Sanskrit philosophy. In 2025 he received the UTM Annual Research Prize in the Humanities for his contributions to his specialties.
Franz Huber (St. George) studies formal epistemology, philosophy of science, logic, and metaphysics. His latest book is Causality, Counterfactuals, and Belief: More Means-End Philosophy (OUP).
