The Department of Philosophy extends its warmest congratulations to faculty members Avia Pasternak and Nick Stang for their promotion to the rank of professor. A member of the Graduate Department of Philosophy at St. George, Pasternak also teaches at the University of Toronto Scarborough campus. Her research centers around questions of political philosophy and public affairs. Stang works out of the St. George campus, with primary research interests in metaphysics and its history, mainly in German philosophy.
Additionally, Michael Miller (St. George) earned tenure, as well as the promotion to associate professor. Miller’s current research focuses on reconceptualizing how mathematics functions as a language for describing empirical phenomena.
All changes take effect on July 1, 2024. Congratulations to these three; it is a pleasure to work alongside them.
