Kristen Beard, a PhD candidate in the Department of Philosophy, and Brendan de Kenessey, an assistant professor, have been awarded 2025 Marc Sanders Foundation Media Fellowships. The Foundation’s Philosophy in Media Initiative aims to increase the presence of philosophy in print, audio, and video media by training philosophers to write and produce for the public. It also seeks to connect philosophers to editors and commissioners in the media industry. Fellowships focus on one of three areas: Essays, Trade Books, and Podcasting. Beard was selected in the Podcasting category, de Kenessey in Essays, both by a selection committee consisting of academic philosophers and media industry professionals. Media Fellows receive workshop training at Tarrytown Estates, NY, lodging and meals at the workshops, connections to industry professionals, and a $1500 honorarium.
