We are delighted to go into the weekend with the announcement that Parisa Moosavi has been selected as the winner of the 2019 David Savan Dissertation Prize, awarded in recognition “of the excellence of a doctoral thesis in philosophy submitted and successfully defended by a student in the Graduate Department during the last calendar year.”
According to the prize citation, Parisa’s dissertation, “From Function to Flourishing: Neo-Aristotelian Ethics and the Science of Life,” jointly supervised by Sergio Tenenbaum and Denis Walsh, exhibited “originality, rigour, and good writing” in copious amounts. The award carries a cash prize of $1,000. We extend our enthusiastic congratulations to Parisa, who is now a postdoctoral fellow in Ethics and Artificial Intelligence at York University!
