Congratulations to Rashad Rehman for winning the Jonathan Hellmann Best Poster Award – Bioethics Week 2021 at SickKids with his poster “An Ethical Framework for Intersex Pediatric Surgery (IPS).” Posters eligible for the award were judged by an outside pediatric bioethicist based on clarity, depth, potential impact and design/format.
“I’m honoured to win the Jonathan Hellman Poster Prize at SickKids’ Bioethics Week 2021,” says Rashad. He adds, “The poster is a precis of my current doctoral research on the moral permissibility of intersex pediatric surgery (IPS). Since I regard my research as being valuable for healthcare professionals concerned with optimizing ethical care for those who are intersex, I’m grateful to receive such positive feedback on the quality of the material presented.” He expressed particular gratitude to SickKids’ clinical bioethicist James Anderson, who invited him to present at Bioethics Week, as well as to his thesis committee (Amy Mullin, Cheryl Misak, Andrew Franklin-Hall, and Darius Bagli, a pediatric urologist at SickKids.
