The Department of Philosophy extends a warm welcome to two new faculty members, Brookes Brown and Andrew Y. Lee. Both are joining the department at the rank of assistant professor on July 1, 2023, Dr. Brown at UTM and Dr. Lee at UTSC.
Brookes Brown, who holds a PhD in Political Philosophy as well as a JD, joins us from Clemson University and after a year as a visiting professor of Legal Studies and Business Ethics at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Her work currently focuses on civic ethics in the context of market economies, considering the ways in which complex institutional analysis changes our thinking about political ethics and methodology in political philosophy.
Andrew Y. Lee is an analytic philosopher whose main line of research focuses on the structure of consciousness. Having received his PhD in Philosophy from New York University, he became a research fellow at the Australian National University’s Centre for Consciousness before joining the University of Toronto.
We are thrilled to welcome both as new colleagues to the department. We also extend a warm welcome to a few new part-time assistant professors (CLTA): on the St. George campus, Brian Bitar, Alessandro Graheli, Natalie Helberg, and Matthew Scarfone; on the UTM campus, Lu-Vada Dunford.
